Zultys MiXiE – Unable to Pick Up Parked Calls (Desk Phone + Desktop App)
Overview
Some users may experience an issue where they can park a call successfully, see the** parked call listed in MiXiE**, but cannot pick it up to resume the call. Clicking the parked call appears to do nothing, and no audio session opens.
This issue most commonly occurs when a user has both a desk phone and the MiXiE desktop application and is caused by a device binding or session desynchronization, not by permissions or parking rights.
Symptoms
You may be affected if you observe the following:
• You can park calls as normal
• You can see the parked call in MiXiE
• Clicking the parked call does not open an active call
• No error message is displayed
• Other users can still retrieve the parked call
• This previously worked and stopped suddenly
Root Cause (Most Common)
MiXiE maintains a binding to a physical device (desk phone or softphone). If this binding becomes stale or out of sync, MiXiE can still see calls but cannot seize the audio session when attempting to retrieve a parked call.
Common triggers include:
• PC sleep or lock/unlock
• MiXiE restart without restarting the desk phone
• Desk phone firmware refresh or reboot
• Network interruption
• Windows updates
MiXiE does not always automatically recover from these states.
Quick Resolution (Recommended)
Follow these steps in order:
- In MiXiE, go to File → Bind To…
- Unbind from the current device
- Close MiXiE completely
- Restart your desk phone
- Reopen MiXiE
- Re bind MiXiE to your desk phone (Bind by Call is preferred)
- Test parking and picking up a call again
✅ This resolves the issue in most cases.
Additional Checks (If Issue Persists)
- Check for Active or Stuck Calls
• Ensure no call is still active or on hold on the desk phone
• Hang up all lines before retrying - Confirm Correct Device Binding
• Verify MiXiE is bound to the exact desk phone you are using
• Ensure you are not bound to a phone already in use elsewhere - Avoid Mixed Call Control
• Do not attempt to pick up a parked call simultaneously from MiXiE and the desk phone
• Use one interface consistently for the retrieval
Known Limitation
MiXiE has been deprecated and does not handle session recovery as reliably as newer Zultys clients. Issues related to call park, pickup, and media control can occur after device or session changes.
For users who require frequent park/retrieve functionality, the Zultys Advanced Communicator (ZAC) client provides more stable call handling.
Best Practices to Prevent Recurrence
• Restart MiXiE if your PC resumes from sleep
• Rebind MiXiE if your desk phone is rebooted
• Use Transfer instead of Park where possible in mixed-device workflows
• Fully close MiXiE at the end of the day rather than leaving it running continuously
When to Escalate
Escalate to IT support if:
• Rebinding does not resolve the issue
• You cannot pick up any calls (parked or direct)
• Desk phone and MiXiE appear out of sync repeatedly
Provide IT with:
• Time the issue started
• Whether PC or phone was restarted recently
• Whether the issue affects only one user or multiple users
